The Outside of Inbound Marketing: 5 Memes for Surviving a Website Build
Website builds can be like a horror movie!
-Welcome to the lighter side of MMInbound and Happy Friday the 13th! Weird things seem to happen during a website build. Links disappear mysteriously, pages become disfigured and sometimes it feels like you’re caught in a bad movie.
The only problem? This movie is REAL. The good news? There isn’t a 7 foot tall psychopath chasing you. Wooo!
In the spirit of today, we put together 5 meme’s to help you survive a website build. As you know, Jason hates…just about everything. Meaning he probably hates website builds too. So, kickback and enjoy!
Begin With The End In-Mind
We’re all guilty of this! You have a clear idea of what you want to do…and somewhere along the way you veer away from your strategy. Next thing you know, your website has half completed pages and things are a mess.
Stick to the strategy and don’t deviate from the plan. Once you start thinking tactically, you can lose sight of the final goal.
Remember strategy is your guiding light…now just don’t run into that abandoned house!
?Lesson: Stick to the plan…
Work With Someone You Trust
It’s late at night…what is your programmer doing? For those of you new to website builds, programmers have a tendency to be at arm’s length. And they seem to love working the graveyard shift!
If you were in a horror movie, is that the person you want to depend on? Yeah, no.
We didn’t think so. Work with someone who you can depend on. This website is a big deal to you – and you want them to feel the same way.
Lesson: Work with some dependable…
Know When To Take a Break
Ahhh…this website is hideous! Even the greatest website has flaws. The more you look at yours, the more you’re going to find.
Now, this isn’t to say that you shouldn’t look through your website with a fine tooth comb. This is to say, that you need to take a break.
What is a glaring problem to you, is unnoticeable to others. Don’t over think what you’re fixing and don’t ask for too many opinions. Soon, your website can start to look like Jason’s face to the left…ugly.
Lesson: Know when to take a break…
?Problems Will Happen
What’s the biggest problem in horror movies? The person always falls down! But for some reason it takes them forever to get up!
Building a website is somewhat similar. Something isn’t going to go as planned – that’s just the way it is.
Being able to get up and continuing moving forward is the key! Your website isn’t going to chase you down, but it might take more time from back from issues. You must be ready to react while keeping your schedule.
Lesson: Be ready for the unknown…
Remember Why You’re Doing This
You’re building a website to attract leads and turn them into customers! Don’t be caught fearing what’s coming next. See even Jason has a soft side.
If you need a guide to walk you through your next website build, let us know. A website should be the center of your marketing efforts…and you sure don’t want others thinking it’s a monster.
Thanks for reading…just don’t turn around!
